At its meeting of January 6, 2016, the Board of Trustees of the Village of West Haverstraw approved a smoking policy prohibiting any and all traditional and non-traditional tobacco uses on all Village grounds and facilities, indoor and outdoor. This policy applies to employees and visitors alike.
The harmful effects of tobacco use are well known and it is the Village’s hope that this action will further reduce exposure to tobacco and improve public health. The Village has an opportunity, and a responsibility, to set standards to protect the health of the public and our employees.
With its emphasis on respect for others and the environment, it is incumbent upon us to take an active role in communicating the tobacco-free policy to our employees and the public.
We thank you for your support and cooperation!
